So somehow you've wandered upon this path and now you're probably looking for some new insight towards life. Sorry to disappoint, but I have nothing new to present to you. In fact you probably already know 99% of the stuff I talk about here, yet I continue to write. I write because some days the thought of leaving all these words bottled up inside is too much of a burden to carry.
Years ago when I was student teaching, I wrote a blog. I didn't expect many to read it. What I was surprised to learn was that a lot of people actually took time to read. I quickly began to write not only for myself, but for you too. What I learned was that we all have a story to tell. ...Here's some of mine.

I collect moments, things, and sometimes even people. (Not in a creepy way or anything of the sort, but I do have quite a collection of redheaded friends.) I don't want to forget these moments or things. I want them to last somewhere so that I may preserve them until I need them. Who knows when that might be...
This isn't just for me. It isn't just for you. It's for us. During that time when I blogged weekly about my student teaching woes, I came to a wild realization: I was not alone in this world. In fact, I was surrounded by some pretty awesome and amazing people. These are the people who have shaped me, for good or for bad and for all the parts of me you see today. And thus: Ubuntu.

For those of you that don't actually know me yet, I figured you might want to know some things about me.
Hi, I'm Kate. (Now say: "Hi Kate!") I am 27 years old. I'm a wife and a cat-mom. I'm a teacher and I LOVE my job. (Like seriously, I have the best job on earth.) I live in Pennsylvania. Always have. (Except that one year I lived in Arizona.) I'm full of witty remarks and sarcasm. (Beware.) I find absolute joy in seeing others laugh. (Be prepared to giggle.) I'd like to describe myself as wonderfully curious. I'm oddly obsessed with meteorology, astronomy, Donkey Kong, and Carl Sagan. I'm terrified of octopuses and I dislike avocados. I'm a wealth of knowledge. Most of it is useless. |
Truth be told, I actually don't like this photo of myself that I'm posting here.
So why post a picture I dislike? Because it captures a moment in time I don't want to forget. After spending a very long and dismal day searching for whales in the Pacific Ocean off of Southeast Alaska, the clouds finally cleared and the humpbacks appeared at last. I was one happy girl. A moment captured. |
