As summer comes to an end and school begins to pick back up, the air always has a very particular feel to it: excitement, trepidation, liveliness. We're all disappointed to see summer go, but we also are eager for the new opportunities that another school year brings. This summer started for me with attending the graduation of Pequea Valley Class of 2015: the very first group of kids I ever taught. And now the summer is ending with these same students embarking on their newest journeys as most of them are headed to college, into trade schools, off to the military, or into the work force. At their graduation, as I sat in the crowd watching each one of my students receive their diplomas, I was overfilled with joy. They were all smiles, bright-eyed, and... alive. They are excited for the next chapter of their lives to begin; they're ready for the adventures to come. When was the last time you felt like that?
So let's try something: let's act like we're alive. Smile and be bright-eyed (I suggest coffee to help).
We've got another day in front of us. What are you going to do with it?
